AVATAR

I don't know if I should have posted this in the bad movie section, since Hollywood was making a political statment it should go here, this movie sucks I was enjoying it for the first half till I notice where it was going, it show us and especially our Marines as environmental rapist, leave it to hollywood to make a hero out of a Marine traidor.Don't mind me but I'am really getting tire of the Hollywood liberals, seen a funny bumper sticker [Beware of liberals posing as Americans] I for one will not waste another 10 dollers on the sequel.

There is not one single active-duty marine portrayed in the entire film. Every one of them are working for a private corporation. They are mercenaries. In fact the one "Marine" that was most recently a marine is the hero of the film.

I'm just saying, it seems like you might be getting worked up over something that isn't there. I didn't think the movie was the greatest, but I did find it entertaining at least :D

They use the term jarhead that is a Marine and I just don't like the way they portrade us, we went to war in iraq but we couldn't bomb or shoot at any moslim churches, so I'am sure if we had a problem with a species from another planet we wouldn't take out their holy tree either, than at the end it said we went back to our dying planet more globle warming crap, and your so call hero Marine was killing is fellow soldiers, why do you think star trek and star wars been around for so long it portrade us as a good and honorable people, but hollywood loves showing us as bad and not caring people and I'am sick of it.

I respect all of our armed forces and my family who serves but honestly we have shown we can be real dicks across the world for our own selfish reasons. I think it was kinda loosely symbolic; we usually will attempt a half ass peace/negotiation process then eventually just fuck people up once we get tired of talking (I guess like any nation).

As far as Avatar, it seemed they really tried to point out that it was a private company taking mostly greedy and morally questionable soldiers; so i didn't even count them as "our soldiers" but more like the worst soldier rejects we had.

And the fact that our planet is likely gonna eventually be pretty shitty for us is not that much of a stretch whether it's from climate change (Doesn't matter if we did it or not) or just the fact that how we currently live isn't sustainable. God forbid we run out of oil; hope im dead when that happens.

I love our troups, and I have the highest admiration for those who have served, and currently serve. This being said, it's a movie. Nothing more than an movie. Reading more into it than that is simply rediculous.

As far as the US being dicks, you can have whatever opinion you wish of this country and our armed forces, but as far as I am concerned we are the last beacon of hope and freedom in this world, and our armed forces are wonderful ambasadors of this to the world. If you feel differently then I suggest you find a new place to reside. You are absolutely entitled to have your opinion of whatever, but if you don't like it here you don't have to stay. That's one of the great things about our country. We don't stop disenters from leaving. I wish you well, may you enjoy another country.

First i never said i don't like it here or resent our soldiers(That would be resenting half my family who's serving); secondly the soldiers are not the ones making wars; it's mostly political. How you construed that I don't like living here or think our soldiers aren't worth a damn from my comments is ridiculous. My point was our POLITICAL process when dealing with anything that the military will eventually get involved in leaves a lot to be desired and doesn't seem to put our soldiers/citizens as their best interests but instead money and more politics.

Ive traveled to 16 countries across the globe and I love America and would die for my country, but to say there aren't other nations equally as "righteous" as us is just being closed minded. There are many other countries who have just as strong resolve to help others and preserve freedoms.

I don't understand why the first reaction to any criticism is to tell someone to leave the country; makes no sense at all.

Yeah, the first amendment to the constitution gives everyone the right to speak their mind, especially about politics. I don't understand the whole leave the country thing either. Voltaire said it well. (paraphrased) I may not agree with what you say, but I will die to protect your right to say (or believe) it.
